Access normally begins with the Google account that connects and verifies the external creator profile. Search Console owners can manage property access, but every additional user should receive only the permission level needed for their role.

An owner has the highest level of Search Console control and can manage settings and user access.
Owners may be able to add colleagues or clients through Search Console's users and permissions settings.
Outside collaborators should use their own Google accounts rather than sharing the creator's login credentials.
| Role | Typical access | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Full property control, including settings and management of other users. | The creator, business owner or trusted administrator. |
| Full user | Broad viewing and operational access without ownership control. | SEO staff, analysts or agencies that actively work with the reports. |
| Restricted user | Limited access to selected reports and actions. | Stakeholders who only need visibility into performance. |
| Associate or connected service | Access depends on the specific Search Console association or external product. | Services that need a defined connection rather than general property control. |
The invitation or property access may be tied to a different email address than the one currently signed in.
Being an administrator on the external platform does not automatically guarantee Search Console access.
The external platform connection may need to be restored or reauthenticated.
The feature may not yet appear for every account, profile type or supported platform.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| At least one active verified owner | A property needs an owner to retain usable Search Console access. |
| Each person uses an individual account | This preserves accountability and makes access easy to revoke. |
| Permissions match the job | Excessive access increases risk without improving the work. |
| External authorization remains active | The Platform Property depends on the connection to the supported creator profile. |
| Former collaborators are removed | Old access should not remain indefinitely. |
