Search Console for creators
How to Add Instagram to Google Search Console
Google Search Console Platform Properties let Instagram creators and businesses see how their public content performs when it appears across Google.
This data is separate from Instagram Insights. Search Console focuses on discovery through Google Search and, when available, Discover and Google News.
Before You Begin
You will need:
- Access to the Instagram account you want to connect.
- A Google account that can access Google Search Console.
- Platform Properties to be available in your Search Console account.
1Open Google Search Console
Sign in to Google Search Console. You can begin from its welcome screen or open the property selector in the sidebar.
2Select Add Property
Choose Add property. Search Console should display the available website and platform property options.
3Choose Instagram
Find Instagram in the list of supported platforms and select Add.
4Confirm Ownership
Follow Google's prompts to connect and verify the Instagram account. Verification may use a direct platform login or an existing relationship with a website property.
Only connect an account you own or are authorized to manage.
5Open the New Property
After ownership is confirmed, select Go to property. It may take several days before performance data begins appearing in your reports.
What Instagram Data Can Search Console Show?
- Clicks from Google.
- Impressions across supported Google surfaces.
- Search queries associated with your content.
- Pages or posts receiving visibility.
- Performance and traffic trends over time.
Why Should Instagram Creators Use It?
Instagram Insights helps explain activity inside Instagram. Search Console can reveal how people find your Instagram content through Google.
This can help you identify:
- Topics that attract Google visibility.
- Search phrases connected to your posts.
- Older content that continues receiving impressions.
- Opportunities for clearer captions, titles and supporting content.
Managing Multiple Instagram Accounts
If you manage more than one Instagram profile, create a separate Platform Property for each account. Search Console reports each connected account independently.
Google may periodically recheck ownership. If the external connection expires, you may need to sign in again before accessing the property.
